Fire consumes garage on Fourth of July night

ALPENA -- A fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Monday night at an unoccupied garage on U.S.-23 North.

When crews arrived on scene, the garage was fully engulfed in flames, according to Alpena Township Fire Chief Mark Hansen.

A home nearby sustained little damage from the incident, Hansen said.

Alpena Township and Maple Ridge Township fire departments and the Michigan State Police responded to the garage fire.
