ALPENA — Hunters can find out whether they scored a chance at bagging an elk or bear this year as the Michigan Department of Natural Resources releases its license drawing results today.

Hunters can log in at mdnr-elicense.com or call 517-284-9453 to learn if their name was drawn for one of the 7,001 bear licenses and 260 elk licenses available for the fall hunting seasons.

Hunters selected in the drawing can buy their license at any license agent or online.

Successful applicants unable to hunt this fall can transfer or donate their eligibility to someone they know or to the DNR hunt waiting list by Sept. 1. The waiting list connects youth applicants and those with an advanced illness with available hunting licenses.

More information about the waiting list can be found at Michigan.gov/HuntTransfers.
