The offense from the whole team began early for Alpena as it started with a lead-off double from Isaac Thompson. This was then followed by a single from Evan Kalish, scoring Thompson. Alpena then drew a walk and scored another run on an error. Kaden Rivard hit a RBI single, extending the lead even further.

Blaise Prevost continued the inning with a double into the left centerfield gap, scoring two more runners. Prevost stole third base and then home to score another Alpena run. The Alpena bats did not slow down and the team proved that by hitting four straight singles. Alpena scored six more runs to finish up the inning.

With a 12-0 lead entering the second inning, Alpena had all the momentum for the rest of the game.

Huron East’s pitchers struggled to throw strikes entering the second inning. This led to another seven runs for Alpena, stretching the lead to 19-0.

This lead stayed the same for the rest of the third inning, which was enough to enforce the mercy rule in back-to-back games.

Kai Peterson started on the mound for Alpena and was immaculate. He pitched two innings and allowed zero hits. Peterson also struck out three batters.

Zander Barbeau also pitched an inning for Alpena. He struck out two more batters and closed out the game against Huron East.

Alpena heads to Gaylord for the district semifinals on Wednesday.
