By The Alpena News 1 min read

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signed into law a bill sponsored by state Rep. Sue Allor, R-Wolverine, that helps small businesses.

House Bill 5555 helps ease the upfront unemployment insurance tax burden of seasonal small businesses with 100 or fewer employees by allowing first-quarter payments to be spread out throughout the year, according to a news release from Whitmer's office.

Allor represents Northeast Michigan in the state House.

The bill is the fifth of Allor's that Whitmer has signed into law this legislative session.
