A train loaded with stone derailed at the Long Lake Avenue crossing, the city announced in a press release on Monday night.

Alpena County Central Dispatch said in a news release the derailment happened just before 6 p.m. Monday. Lake State Railway crews worked through the night to put the cars back on the track.

There is no danger to the public, the city said.

The crossing will be impassible for up to three days while crews work to clean up the scene.
