POSEN — The graduating seniors from Posen High School had their moment in the spotlight Friday as family, friends, school staff and members of the community celebrated their accomplishment during a graduation ceremony.

The Class of 2022, which has 18 students, had its ups and down during its four years in high school as it fought through being in and out of school and being forced away from friends due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, the students pushed through the hard times and are ready to move onto the next chapter of their lives.

Superintendent Michelle Wesner reminded the class that as they leave high school behind and pursue other goals, the Posen community will be there for them through good times and bad.

“A new chapter is about to unfold. You’ll move forward with all of our support and encouragement, now, you will forge your own paths,” Wesner said. “Posen Schools has been your second home, so please remember we will always be here to support you. We’ll be right there cheering for you, worrying about you, and hoping you find everything you’ve been dreaming about.”

Salutatorian Abigail Schellie thanked her family for the support they provided over the years. She went on to address her classmates and urged them to rely on what they were taught in Posen to get through tough times.

“Everything that has happened up to this point has been comfortable and familiar, but in a few short months, we will all be living in different areas and moving in different directions and taking on new challenges,” Schellie said. “When things get scary, and they will, always remember we were prepared for this journey by some amazing people. Each and every one of you has a God-given gift that is uniquely yours and I encourage you to push yourselves and never stop believing that nothing is impossible.”

As the ceremony wrapped up, the graduates received their diplomas from school board president Andrew Stone and the song “Five More Minutes” by Scotty McCreery played for the recessional.
