ALPENA -- Students, family, friends, and administrators gathered at Art in the Loft Wednesday to celebrate the Aces Academy graduating class of 2022. Aces Academy Director Matt Poli opened the ceremony and applauded the students for their dedication to their education, and to their fellow students.
"Their kindness and willingness to help and support others who are struggling simply and truly amazes me," Poli said. "They volunteer their time at the humane society, their local church, helping seniors throughout the community, and volunteering with the Youth Volunteer Corps at the local Boys and Girls Club. When they know what they want they go after it and you better get out of the way."
Fifteen students received diplomas this year, an increase of five since last year, Poli said.
Students Mackenzie Kolnowski, Teegan Birch, and Joseph Klotz each gave a short speech, thanking the staff and their fellow students.
"If it weren't for Aces and every single one of their amazing staff, I would not be standing here today," Kolnowski said.
