ALPENA — City, town, and township governments, nonprofits, health departments, and other bodies have util July 2 to apply for grants from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to improve rural electronics recycling.

Grants of up to $20,000 will support improvements to collection facilities, lead to the establishment of new collection locations, and teach residents about electronics recycling.

Those interested in learning about or applying for the grant may visit Michigan.gov/MIRecycles, under the electronics section under the Grants tab. Electronics Program staff in EGLE’s Materials Management Division will discuss grant proposals with applicants prior to submission upon request.
