Police increased their presence at Alpena High School on Thursday after law enforcement received a tip regarding a possible threat to the school late Wednesday night.

In a press release Thursday, Alpena Public Schools said that, out of an abundance of caution, an increased law enforcement presence is at the school.

The type of threat in the tip is not known at this time.

Upon receiving the tip, law enforcement immediately began an investigation and communicated with school officials. They have met with those involved with reporting and making the alleged threat.

The enhanced law enforcement presence at the building will remain as the investigation continues, APS said.
