DNR firewood permits available Friday

Residents can purchase permits to cut firewood on state land beginning on Friday, with a new online purchase option.

Those hoping to harvest firewood from a state forest can visit Michigan.gov/DNRLicenses to purchase the $20 permit with a credit card. Michigan Department of Natural Resources customer service centers will also have permits available for sale.

DNR firewood permits, good for 90 days after purchase, allow for collection of up to five standard cords of wood per household. Wood must be dead and down within 200 feet of a road.
