ALPENA – When you walk into this place, it somehow smells like peace. The good energy is hard to describe.
Then, as you look around, you figure out who knows what to make of it.
Stacy Kimble is explaining how to use pink Himalayan salt balls to a client, noting that they decrease toxins in the body, and can even be used as a natural deodorant. She is surrounded by hundreds of different stones and crystals, each with a specific purpose for healing or balancing your body, mind and spirit.
“They cover all different things, and we have more stones coming all the time,” Kimble said on Wednesday.
She gets her stones and crystals from Earth’s Core in Tennessee.

Chakra Goddess Melissa Fournier-Thomas demonstrates how to use a chakra charger, which consists of eight different stones, and can be custom-made.
“I go down and I hand-pick whatever comes into the store,” Kimble said. “I want to make sure it feels good, and I want people to feel that.”
Kimble owns Illuminate Wellness, a new business in Alpena, offering chakra balancing, acupressure, cranio sacral therapy and process work, which she has been doing for 20 years. Essential oils and sage for burning are also available, as well as resources to interpret each stone or crystal’s uses.
Anyone who enters here is welcome.
The business, located at 2477 U.S.-23 South, held its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Wednesday afternoon, with representatives from the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce and members of the public attending to learn about all Illuminate has to offer.
“We are more than a storefront for a variety of crystals, stones, essential oils, vibrational medicine, etc.,” their website explains. “We also have a treatment space offering acupressure, cranio sacral therapy, myofascial release, process and Reiki sessions by appointment … Holistic healing sessions tailored to reduce pain, stress and identify imbalances at the root of your symptoms.”

A variety of stones, each with a different healing power and purpose, are available at Illuminate Wellness on U.S.-23 South in Alpena.
For those who might be skeptical, Chakra Goddess Melissa Fournier-Thomas stated, “It’s listening to the body. We want people to be in tune with their body, listen to their body, and if we find out something, we let them know.”
She explained that she and Kimble both have medical backgrounds.
“I want to help treat people, wherever they are,” Fournier-Thomas said. “We have books grounded in science … There are things that we cannot explain in the human body. Just try it. The mind can heal. The body has the capability to heal. We can unlock it.”
Each stone has a specific healing power in crystal therapy, Fournier-Thomas said.
For example, the dark blue lapis lazuli is a soothing, calming influence that helps open the mind and calm the senses. It is a stone of protection and works to negate the effects of negative or harmful energies.

As another example, the deep orange carnelian is meant to bolster courage, boost energy, and strengthen sense of self.
Mossy green epidote is said to increase optimism, raise one’s vibration, and help an individual to move out of feeling stuck.
The list goes on. There’s basically a stone or crystal for whatever ails you. But that’s not all Illuminate offers.
Kimble explained cranial sacral therapy.
“It’s about getting your body in alignment,” she said. “It’s also very helpful for people who have been through all the medical tests, nobody can figure out what’s going on with them, or maybe they have chronic conditions, and medication is not helping it. It’s about getting in and finding out what kind of underlying things, mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, are being held in the body and holding that pain in there.”

She said it’s about getting to the root of the pain.
Kimble added that the south side of town is becoming a healing hub, as her business is right next door to Massage Works, Calm in the Storm, and the Sidelight Salon. It’s becoming an area where self-enlightenment and self-care are vital.
“We’re trying to form a community for people who are looking, who are seeking,” Kimble said. “And having a place that people can gather and say, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m not the only one who feels this,’ or ‘I’m not the only one looking for this.'”
“This” being wholeness in body, mind, soul and spirit.
“We’ve kind of got this little healing hub over here,” Kimble said. “We’re excited about it.”

Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce representatives hosted a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday for Illuminate, a holistic health and wellness center at 2477 U.S.-23 South in Alpena. She added that chiropractors are also in the mix in that same office complex.
“It’s about tuning into your inner voice, and your inner spirit,” Kimble said. “You know if you walk into a room, and things don’t feel right.”
That won’t happen when you walk into Illuminate. All is right when you get the right guidance.
