ALPENA ― Residents missing the summer fun of dangling a pole over the water can dangle at will Feb. 19 and 20 during the first of the state’s twice-annual free fishing weekends.
Resident and out-of-state visitors can fish without a license on those dates, including at state parks.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources also waives entry fees to state parks and DNR-managed boating access sites during free fishing weekends.
