Winter Weather Advisory issued for NE Michigan

ALPENA – Motorists in Northeast Michigan are urged to use caution while traveling today and tomorrow morning, as roads are expected to become slippery.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of northern Michigan until 7 a.m. Thursday. Lake effect snow is expected to move over the area with accumulations of 2 to 5 inches expected, with some local accumulation possible.

Roads are expected to gradually become snowed over and slippery, which could make driving conditions tonight and Thursday morning hazardous.

After the snowfall subsides, a cold front bringing some of the coldest temperatures of the season are forecasted.

The NWS says temperatures Thursday will only climb into the mid-teens during the day and fall into single digits overnight into Friday.
