ALPENA -- Abbey, a 2-year-old standard poodle owned by Joy Rockett of West Mirre Street in Alpena, romps in fresh snow before going for a car ride on Monday morning. Alpena added 2.1 inches of snow over the weekend for a total of 7.1 inches since the beginning of the new year. The city's seasonal snowfall measures 34 inches, 6 inches above normal for the date, according to the Gaylord National Weather Service station, which predicts little accumulation in Alpena the rest of this week.
