LINCOLN — A Lincoln man died when his snowmobile crashed on an Alcona County road over the weekend, police reported.

Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Curtis Vonfintel, 57, was eastbound on Vandercook Road in Mikado Township when his snowmobile left the road and crashed into a tree. The impact ejected Vonfintel, who also struck the tree, police said.

Vonfintel had died when police and medical responders arrived, according to the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office, which said speed played a part in the crash.
