Alpena 7th Grade girls basketball

January 20: Alpena traveled to Petoskey for their first two games of the 2022 season. In the first game, the Wildcat White team defeated the Petoskey White team by a final score of 20-9. They led start to finish in what was an excellent defensive performance by the whole team.

Maddy Farley led the Wildcat White team in scoring with 8 points on the night, with Kelci Hall and Jaycie Witulski adding 4 points each.

January 20th-Second Game In the second game of the evening, the Alpena Wildcat Green team defeated the Petoskey Blue team by a score of 36-24. The Wildcats found themselves down 18-9 at half, but used excellent defense and some good shooting to make a comeback and finish out the win.

McKenzie Dziesinski led the Wildcats in scoring with 20 points on the night, with Madelynn Cameron adding 6 points, and Maddie Wiedbrauk scoring 5 points.

January 26: Alpena traveled to Ogemaw to take on the Lady Falcons in a single game. In what was a physical battle, the Wildcat ladies played tough and came away with a 37-18 victory on the road in West Branch. The first quarter was very close, but the Wildcats used a 10-0 run at the end of the second quarter to put themselves in control of the game.

Madelynn Cameron led the Wildcats with 12 points, McKenzie Dziesinski added 8 points, and Grace Cameron finished with 7 points on the night. Alpena returns to the road Tuesday, Feb 1 at Cheboygan, then play their first home game Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at Alpena High School.
