ALPENA ― Three local outdoor recreation projects may receive a combined $500,000 after the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board on Wednesday recommended 117 recreation development projects to be funded in 2022.

If the state Legislature approves the board’s recommendation, Alpena could use $300,000 from the fund to improve the Bay View Park restroom and pavilion.

The board also recommended $185,000 to upgrade the Rogers City Lakeside Park pavilion and playground and $50,000 to replace a footbridge in Harrisville State Park.

The Natural Resources Trust Fund is funded through interest and earnings related to the revenues of state-owned oil, gas, and minerals.
