ALPENA — Firefighters responded to a barn fire on Lake Winyah Road in Alpena Township around noon on Friday. The homeowner reported no injuries but said he lost a tractor, four-wheeler, and lawnmower and other items in the fire.

A woman knocking at his door alerted the homeowner to the fire in the barn behind his home, he said.

Firefighters from Wilson Township, Alpena Township, and the Alpena Combat Readiness Center called in multiple water tankers to tackle the blaze, which fully engulfed the structure. Responders were able to save a camper parked next to the barn.
