Video explains DNR deer harvest rule changes

By Julie Riddle 1 min read

ALPENA -- How hunters impact deer populations just got easier to understand with the release of a short video by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Accompanied by jazzy music and easy-to-understand graphics, the five-minute video illustrates how Michigan hunters could harvest 40% of the deer population and still leave a sustainable herd for the following year's hunt.

The video aims to help residents understand recent changes in DNR regulations that allow hunters to take more deer on combo and universal antlerless licenses, according to the DNR.
