WITH VIDEO: Crash on U.S.-23 South sends one to hospital
ALPENA — Authorities including Sanborn Township first responders, Alpena Fire Department, and Michigan State Police-Alpena post responded to a single-car crash on U.S.-23 South near Squaw Bay Tuesday afternoon that pinned the driver in his car. Responders brought extrication tools, the responder said, which were not necessary because the driver had already been removed from the car. The driver suffered several injuries, but was found to be stable and transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena. Responders said that the vehicle was traveling southbound on U.S.-23 South and veered off to the opposite side of the road and went airborne into the ditch. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, according to responders.
