Dog lost in Presque Isle County crosses state, returns home

A 3-year-old Australian shepherd that went missing when its owners camped at the Ocqueoc Falls State Forest Campground in Presque Isle County in July found its way to Charlevoix, where a couple discovered it under their camper earlier this month, the Petoskey News-Review reported last week.

The couple traced the dog’s downstate owners through a phone number on the dog’s tags. Though Jinks, the dog, had been missing four months and traveled across the state, it seemed mostly healthy, aside from losing some weight and having matted fur, the paper reported.

The owners joyfully reclaimed their dog, which has been reunited with its sister downstate.
