Art in the Loft announces its second annual Edible Alpena Gingerbread Contest, which will be held from Dec. 17-22.

Details are available at artintheloft.org and participants must register by Dec. 12.

Rules and Registration:

Create your favorite landscape, building, or structure located in Northeast Michigan: Alpena, Hubbard Lake, Ossineke, Posen, and Presque Isle.

*Entry must be no larger than 20 x 20 inches and entirely edible.

*You may use non-food items for base, background, and lighting.

Please email one photo of your creation, a picture of your inspiration, and a completed entry form to director@artintheloft.org by 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12.

You can register to display your creation on Facebook only OR both in the gallery or downtown shops and on Facebook. Those who choose to display in town will be informed where they will be shown on Monday, Dec. 13th at 5 p.m. and must be delivered between Dec. 14-16, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Individuals who display their creations at the gallery or in a downtown shop will receive a $15 gift certificate to Art in the Loft as a thank you for bringing some holiday spirit downtown.

Space is limited and will be provided on a first come, first served basis so register early to reserve your spot.

Viewing and Voting

Get a map at Art in the Loft for information on where to view the creations displayed throughout Downtown Alpena from: Friday, Dec. 17 and Saturday Dec. 18, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Go to Art in the Loft Facebook Page and vote for your favorite creation in each category by liking the photo. from Friday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Teen: 13-19 years old

Adult: 20 and above

Community Charitable Org

First Prize $200

Second Prize $100

Third Prize $50

Prizes will be awarded based on total number of likes each picture receives on Facebook. Artists are encouraged to share their picture with family and friends.

Prizes will be announced by Art in the Loft via Facebook Live on Dec 23 at 6 p.m.

Winners will be contacted on how to receive their prize.
