Three-car crash in Alpena results in minor injuries

ALPENA -- The Alpena police and fire departments responded to a three-car wreck near the intersection of 11th Avenue and Washington Avenue shortly after 2p.m. today.
The injuries from the crash were minor and nobody was transported to the hospital.
A line of cars near the stop sign were involved in the crash, with the car in the rear sustaining enough front-end damage to set off the airbag. The cars in front of them suffered only minor cosmetic damage.
The wreck happened near the detour that is established due to the closing of the Bagley Street Bridge. The bridge’s closure has led to an increase in traffic in that area of the city, which has resulted in many crashes.
The Alpena Road Commission announced last week that it is possible the construction of the bridge may not be complete until next year.
