POLICE BLOTTER: Montmorency County deputies respond to injured eagle, woman in ditch, man ‘tweaking out’

Montmorency County Inmates lodged in Alpena Jail: 11

Oct. 12

9:37 a.m.: Officers responded to a complaint of a male tweaking out on McMurphy Rd near County Rd 487. The subject was located, detained and found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Subject was arrested and lodged. The 34-year-old male from Sterling Heights also had 2 warrants from another county.

4:06 p.m.: Hillman Fire Dept responded to M-32 near the Hillman High School for some brush that fell out of a truck and was blocking the east bound lane.

5:08 p.m.: Officers responded to an assault on Mary Anne Dr in Albert Twp. A 40-year-old male from Lewiston was arrested and lodged.

5:09 p.m.: Officers responded to a property dispute on Harwood Rd. The parties were separated for the night.

6:36 p.m.: A deputy and a DNR officer responded to a report of an eagle being hit by a vehicle. The eagle was still alive but injured. The eagle was taken by the DNR to be rehabilitated.

9:36 p.m.: Deputies responded to a call from Hillman Township the original complaint was about a driver who had hit a deer and seemed to have a concussion and didn’t appear as though he should be driving; An officer initiated a traffic stop with the driver. The driver was arrested for OWI and other charges and lodged at Alpena County Jail. Officers cleared without incident.

11:19 p.m.: Deputies responded to a welfare check in Briley Township; the subject was found to be fine.

9:15 p.m.: Deputies responded to a domestic assault on Timber trail in Hillman Twp. A 42-year-old male from Hillman was arrested and lodged.

Oct. 13

1:30 a.m.: A female subject was reported to be in the ditch on M-33/Gerber Rd Deputies responded; the female was arrested for OWI and lodged at Alpena County Jail; Officers cleared without incident.

7:32 a.m.: A deer/vehicle accident was reported to the center; an officer responded and took the report.

4:43 p.m.: A report of a verbal dispute over property in Briley Township came into Dispatch; Deputies responded to the scene where a subject was firing a gun into a field. Officers separated the parties and cleared without incident.

9:25 p.m.: A dispute at a Hillman Township business was reported; an officer responded and took the report. Before the Deputy arrived the other subjects involved had dispersed. Officer cleared without incident.

9:36 p.m.: A call came into the center from a Hillman Township business about a male subject that had stated that he was involved in a car accident of some sort and should not be driving; Deputies initiated a traffic stop with the subject. While on the stop the driver was found to be intoxicated; the male subject was arrested for OWI and taken to the hospital for injuries related to the previous accident and then lodged at Alpena County jail after being treated for the injuries sustained.

Oct. 14

9:09 a.m.: A seasonal resident of Albert Township called to report some of his hunting equipment had been stolen; a deputy responded. The items were located nearby.

1:12 p.m.: A two vehicle crash was reported in Albert Township. A MCSO deputy along with Albert Township Fire and EMS all responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.

1:59 p.m.: A suspicious vehicle was reported in Vienna Township; while on the phone with the caller someone came to tow the vehicle.

5:05 p.m.: A verbal dispute was reported in the Village of Hillman; a deputy responded to the scene but the subject had left prior to his arrival.

6:30 p.m.: An erratic driver was reported in Briley Township; officers responded to the call. An additional 911 call came in about a verbal dispute between the drivers shortly after initial call was made; the parties were located and separated. Officers cleared without incident.

9:50 p.m.: While on routine patrol in Albert Township; Deputies initiated a traffic stop which led to the driver being cited for having no insurance. The vehicle was also towed.

Oct. 15

5:33 a.m.: Deputies responded to a commercial alarm in Briley Township; building was found to be secure. Officers cleared without incident.

10:34 a.m.: A single vehicle accident was reported in Albert Township. No injuries were reported. MCSO deputies, Albert Township Fire & EMS all responded to the scene. A male subject was arrested for OWI and taken to Alpena County Jail where he was lodged.

Oct. 16

3:48 a.m.: Deputies responded to a domestic dispute in Hillman Township, the parties involved were separated; deputies cleared without incident.

11:29 p.m.: A vehicle/deer accident was reported in Hillman Township; the party involved was uninjured.
