Man linked to Wirgau arraigned
ALPENA — An Alpena judge on Monday authorized charges against a man connected to Joshua Wirgau, the owner of the property where police last week found the body of missing Alpena teenager Brynn Bills.
Brad Srebnik, 35, was arraigned in Alpena’s 88th District Court on charges of unlawful imprisonment by restraining a person with a weapon and illegal possession of a firearm.
Wirgau, arrested last week, faces charges of unlawful imprisonment and assault with a dangerous weapon in the same alleged incident, according to 1st Lt. John Grimshaw, commander of the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post.
Alpena County Prosecutor Cynthia Muszynski confirmed Srebnik is named as a witness in the county’s case against Wirgau.
The victim in that case is not Bills, according to court documents.
Last week, police found what they believe to be the body of Bills buried in Wirgau’s Alpena Township back yard. Police identified the body as Bills based on tattoo markings, but the results of an autopsy could take several months, police said last week.
Police indicated Wirgau is a person of interest in the investigation of Bills’ death. Grimshaw would not comment on whether Srebnik is a person of interest in that investigation.
Srebnik is housed in the Presque Isle County Jail.
Muszynski would not comment on why Srebnik is not housed in Alpena County or whether she expects further charges for either defendant.
