ROGERS CITY -- Good-natured police officers helped raise funds for suicide awareness during a "Dunk-a-Cop" fundraiser in Rogers City on Saturday. Organized in part by Rogers City resident Jane Tristain, who lost a son to suicide, the event invited residents to hurl beanbags at a plunger in hopes of releasing water from a specially-rigged toilet over the head of a participating police officer. Presque Isle County Undersheriff Chris Flewelling, Rogers City Police Chief Jamie Meyer, and officers from the Cheboygan County Sheriff's Department took turns getting soaked for a good cause as cheerful adults and children took aim at the plunger. Participating children got extra turns, Tristain said. Proceeds from the event will support an upcoming suicide awareness walk.
