ALPENA -- Responders used extrication equipment to gain access to the crushed driver's-side door of a Ford Flex after a two-vehicle crash that snarled traffic on U.S.-23 North near Princeton Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Firefighters removed the driver of the vehicle, which collided with a truck pulling equipment, while a passenger was able to exit the Flex himself. Both people were transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena with unspecified injuries.
The driver of the truck was not transported to the hospital.
According to police, the truck was traveling south on U.S.-23 North when the driver of the Flex pulled out of the Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union. The truck, which ended up on grass a distance from the road, sustained significant front-end damage.
