PRESQUE ISLE ― Concerned boaters helped police pull two people from Grand Lake after a Wednesday evening jet ski collision. Medical responders took the two people, who had been riding on the same jet ski, to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena for injuries that did not appear life-threatening, according to police.

The driver of a second jet ski, momentarily distracted as the three traveled Grand Lake together, ran into the first vehicle after it had slowed, knocking the two into the water, police said.

Local boaters helped the two injured people out of the water before a fire department rescue boat arrived, according to police.

One jet ski was drivable after the crash, though the other had to be towed. Police did not ticket the second driver, who was uninjured in the crash, but instructed him to complete water safety training.
