A Detroit-area woman died in a crash near Ossineke Road in Sanborn Township at about 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, police announced on Monday.

Chelsea Meldrum, 30, of Harrison Township, died when the 2017 Jeep Wrangler she was driving went onto the shoulder of a private two-track road, struck a stump, and overturned, according to a preliminary police investigation.

Medical personnel treated two passengers of the Wrangler for non-life threatening injuries at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

A third passenger escaped injury, according to the Michigan State Police.
