ALPENA — Police and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle, head-on collision at the intersection of U.S.-23 South and South Ripley Boulevard in Alpena Township Monday morning. The driver of a black minivan was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena with unknown injuries after attempting to turn left onto Ripley and crashing into a silver Jeep headed south on U.S.-23 South, according to police, who had not yet determined which driver was at fault. The airbags of both vehicles deployed. Neither the driver of the other vehicle nor a dog riding in the minivan were injured in the crash, police said.
