PREP ROUNDUP: Hillman no-hits Huskies; Kamyszek stifles Hale

Hillman sweeps
Huskies
ATLANTA–The Hillman softball team topped Montmorency County rival Atlanta on Thursday, topping the Huskies 13-0 and 16-0.
In the opener, Nicole Barbeau and Brooke Bennett combined to no-hit Atlanta with Barbeau fanning seven batters.
At the plate, Cassidy Benac was 3-for-4 with a double for Hillman (11-10, 4-0 North Star League); Melanie Morrison was 2-for 4 with a triple and two RBI; Saige Flaugher was 2-for-4 with three RBI; Jessica Jones was 2-for-4 and Arianna Smith had a hit and drove in two.
In the second game, Julia Taratuta earned the win, allowing two hits and striking out five.
Benac was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI; Barbeau was 2-for-3; Kylee Green was 2-for-2 and Taratuta ended the game with an inside-the-park grand slam.
Hillman plays at Flint Kearsley on Saturday.
Kamyszek, Posen shut down Hale
POSEN–Makayla Kamyszek threw a shutout and the Posen softball team topped Hale 10-0 (five innings) on Thursday. Posen led Hale 19-3 in the second game of a doubleheader.
In the opener, Kamyszek struck out seven, walked two and allowed one hit.
Offensively for Posen, Lizzy Romel had three hits and two RBI; Faith Cousins had two hits and two RBI; Kamyszek had two hits and an RBI and Hailey Styma had two hits and two RBI.
BASEBALL
Hillman takes 2 from Atlanta
ATLANTA–The Hillman baseball team took care of business on both sides of the ball on Thursday, topping Atlanta 17-0 and 10-0.
In the opener, Jaden Dove earned the win for Hillman (12-7-1, 2-0 North Star League), pitching a no-hitter while striking out eight.
He helped his cause by going 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI; Trenton Taratuta was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI; AJ Jones was 2-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI; Brady Firman was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI; Braylon Firman was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In the second game, Jones threw a no-hitter and struck out 11.
Taratuta was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI; Jones had three RBI; Sean Henigan had a triple and scored three times; Aden Sobeck was 1-for-2; Jeff Klein and Caleb Hiveley each had a hit; Braylon Firman had a hit and scored; Brady Firman had a hit, scored and added an RBI.
Hillman plays in Caro on Saturday.
Hale tops Posen
POSEN–The Posen baseball team had a tough day all around on Thursday during 13-7 and 24-3 losses to Hale.
In the opener, Chase Dubie and Ethan Romel each had two hits for Posen; Romel had two RBI and Trenton McCormick had one. Posen scored six runs through four innings, but was left trailing after a seven-run fourth inning by the Eagles.
In the second game, Romel and Lucas Stone each had two hits for the Vikings and Romel had two RBI.
