PREP ROUNDUP: Alpena girls soccer team tops Sault Ste. Marie

SAULT STE. MARIE–The Alpena girls soccer team picked up its second win over Sault Ste. Marie in a week, topping the Blue Devils 3-1 on the road on Monday.

Anna Woods, Olivia Rochefort and Kami Schultz all scored for Alpena, which held a 2-1 lead at halftime and added a goal with about five minutes left to play.

Schultz also had an assist and Reese Wisniewski had two assists.

Alpena wraps up the regular season at Traverse City Central on Tuesday and will host Petoskey in a playoff game on Thursday.

Alcona wins 9-10 Invite at

Fairview

FAIRVIEW–Alcona’s freshmen and sophomores topped the field on Monday during a 9-10 invite at Fairview.

Winners for Alcona included Hayden Johnston in the high jump (5-2) and 300 hurdles (50.7); Logan Zuchowski in the discus (85-10); Carter Upper in the 1,600 run (5:31.6) and 3,200 run (14:15); Emma Travis in the 400 dash (1:08.1) and Kelsey Hansen in the shot put (34-5 3/4), discus (94-0) and long jump (15-6 3/4).

Hayden Hentkowski won the 100 dash (12.4) and long jump (18-8 1/4) and Posen had a trio of winners in Chris Talaska (200 dash, 26.9), Conner Paull (800 run, 2:27.4) and Ethan Purol (shot put, 30-0 1/4).

On the girls side, Hailey Lucas of Posen swept the hurdles, winning the 100 (23.7) and 300 hurdles (1:07) and Macy Kroll won the 100 dash (14.0), 200 dash (29.8) and high jump (4-8). Lillie Rocco added a win for Posen in the 800 run (3:22.2)
