ACC softball wins big vs. Mott
ALPENA–The Alpena Community College softball team continued to roll on Friday, topping Mott 9-1 and 17-5 in a pair of five-inning victories.
The wins give the Lumberjacks (13-18) five consecutive victories and eight in their last 10 games.
ACC used a five-run fourth inning to power by the Bears in Game 1.
Jade Schultz went the distance on the mound, allowing a run on seven hits with six strikeouts.
Riley Alexander had two hits for Alpena, including a home run and Paige Wooden had three hits. Wooden and Brooke Ciarkowski each had a pair of RBI and Ciarkowski had a triple.
ACC built a 7-2 lead after one inning in Game 2 and never looked back. Schultz and Lily Lewis shared pitching duties for the Lumberjacks.
Aubree Sheldon had two hits for ACC, including a home run and five RBI; Ciarkowski had a hit, two RBI and scored four runs; Linnea Hentkowski had two hits and three RBI; Schultz, Kayla Metty and Mollie Girard each had two hits and an RBI.
ACC plays at Mott Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. The Lumberjacks will play at Schoolcraft on Sunday at noon and 2 p.m.
