ALPENA — The Alpena Community College softball team’s winning streak hit seven games on Saturday, thanks to a lot of offense.

The Lumberjacks pounded out 26 hits between two games — including four home runs — en route to beating Mott 8-7 and 10-6.

ACC (15-18) is 15-7 since April 1 and 11-2 in its last 13 games.

Paige Wooden hit two home runs for ACC, including a grand slam in the second game and finished the day with four hits and eight RBI.

ACC led 3-0 after one inning and 7-4 after two innings and Mott tied the game with three runs in the third inning.

The Lumberjacks displayed some power early as Wooden hit a three-run homer to center field. Ciarkowski followed in the second inning with a three-run shot down the left field line.

Jade Schultz pitched a complete game for ACC, scattering 12 hits and striking out six.

Dayna LaBell, Ciarkowski and Kayla Metty each had three hits for ACC. Wooden, Schultz and Riley Alexander each had two hits.

ACC trailed early in the second game, but took control with a five-run sixth inning. Wooden broke a 5-5 tie with a grand slam that also scored LaBell, Schultz and Girard.

Schultz hit a two-run homer in the third inning, Aubree Sheldon had a sac fly in the fifth inning and LaBell had singled to score a run in the sixth, just before Wooden’s home run.

Schultz threw another complete game, allowing six runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts.
