Three ACC players earn all-conference honors

Chris DeRocher

Three Alpena Community College men’s basketball players recently earned all-conference honors for their play during the 2021 season.

Sophomore forward Chris DeRocher earned first team all-conference honors and was named the co-Defensive Player of the Year. DeRocher averaged 13.6 points per game and 11.1 rebounds per game, which was ninth highest in the nation.

“I’m very happy for Chris. He’s one of the humblest athletes that I have ever coached. He’s always en known as an offensive threat and to also be named Co-Defensive player of the Year speaks volumes of the work, he did this year,” ACC coach Mark Jacobs said. “I put a lot on his shoulder and he responded fantastically.”

Freshman forward Parker Neu earned second team all-conference honors and first team all-freshman honors. He averaged 15.5 points and seven rebounds per game.

“Parker did the dirty work for us underneath this year. This young man is one of the strongest guys in the league. We were lucky to get him over to the east side of the state,” Jacobs said. “He’s a guy is does the right thing all the time.”

Freshman guard Kelley Stark earned an honorable mention after averaging 9.2 points per game for the Lumberjacks

“Kelley hasn’t even scratched the surface yet. His best ball is yet to come. He loves being in the gym and loves the game of basketball. Fun kid to coach,” Jacobs said. “He played out of position this year and every game he had to battle against guys who were 4-6 inches taller than him.”
