School resource officer finds runaway PI teen

ROGERS CITY — A runaway Presque Isle County teen was found Monday after nearly a month away from his home, police reported today.

Joe Horne, 16, ran away from his Posen residence on Feb. 7, according to police. Since then, the teen has contacted Posen school staff and students, saying he was safe but not revealing his location.

Posen School Resource Officer Ryan Frost, a deputy with the Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Office who headed the search for Horne, received tips about Horne’s whereabouts from as far away as Texas. Late on Monday, Frost followed up on a tip that led police to find Horne at a home in the Saginaw area.

“Your life does matter,” Frost said, addressing any teen considering running away from home. “Your voice is a powerful tool in receiving professional help and guidance.”
