ALPENA — The Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District Board of Education on Thursday unanimously gave Superintendent Scott Reynolds a rating of “highly effective” on his annual evaluation.
The board scored Reynolds in six categories, including professionalism and ethics, visionary leadership, instructional leadership, policy and governance, organizational management, and communication and community relations.
Board President Mike Mahler said Reynolds was scored highly effective in all six of those categories and he was also scored highly effective on the student achievement portion of his evaluation, which represented 40% of his overall evaluation.
“Scott does a great job. He’s there for the students, he’s a great communicator, he works well with staff, is a very strategic thinker,” he said. “When you look at all of the metrics by which we are to measure him, Scott obviously scored well across all board members evaluations of him.”
Mahler said Reynolds evaluation will not influence his salary for next year. He said Reynolds’ salary is already determined in a three-year contract.
Reynolds has worked for the AMA ESD the last seven years, three years as principal of Pied Piper School and the last four years as the superintendent.
Reynolds was pleased with his evaluation.
“It’s been an unprecedented year, but I’m real proud of the staff’s response to these challenges, really excited about the work that lies ahead, I’m very thankful in the board’s confidence in me to serve the community, I couldn’t think of a better organization to work for, and it takes a team, it takes a community, and I don’t take that for granted,” Reynolds said.
