DHD No. 4 expects to receive 1,000 vaccines this week

ALPENA — District Health Department No. 4 staff will call to reschedule appointments for individuals who had their COVID-19 vaccination clinic appointment canceled last week.

The Health Department expects to receive 1,000 first-dose vaccines this week, DHD No. 4 officials said in a press release today.

After those appointments are scheduled, DHD No. 4 employees will fill the remaining vaccination appointments from its online pre-registration list.

Health Department officials are currently scheduling appointments for individuals who are eligible to receive the vaccine and have pre-registered online at dhd4.org.

Those currently eligible for the vaccine include health care workers, police, emergency service personnel, educators, childcare workers, and seniors 65 and older who live or work in Alpena, Montmorency, Presque Isle, and Cheboygan counties.

As of Tuesday morning, 8,000 people were pre-registered to receive the vaccine. Health Department officials estimate there are more than 25,000 people in the four-county region who are eligible to receive the vaccine. The Health Department has administered 4,545 doses of vaccine to date.

Health Department officials ask for the public’s continued patience as employees are working as fast as they can with the limited supply of vaccine allotted. Health Department officials learn on Fridays how many doses they should expect the following week.
