∫ At its Jan. 5 meeting, the Rogers City City Council voted to forego utility bill late fees until at least March 32. It also passed the proposed list for parades for 2022. Included were the Nautical Festival Parade, Little League Parade, Kiddie Parade, Memorial Day Parade, homecoming parade, Halloween Parade and Christmas parade.

During the meeting, there was also the first reading of a pair of zoning ordinance amendments. The first amendment would allow B-2 Central Business districts to be rezoned to R-2 Single Family Residential.

The Second ordinance to make planned use developments a with supplemental development regulations on all properties zone B-3 general business.

The council also voted to appoint councilman Gary Nowak as mayor pro tem.

∫ At its last Jan. 4 meeting the Lincoln Village Council was updated on several community projects:

The Friends of the Playground are continuing to raise funds for a pavilion. Currently, they have over $4,000 in an account towards the project. The group is in the process trying to secure grand funds to help fund the project.

Board President Shelia Phillips said she has information about possibly making the Village a Golf Cart Community. It is likely the issue will go before the planning commission, before coming back to council for consideration. There was also discussion about Fire services in the area. Phillips provided an update on fire department funding that is being requested in the upcoming budgets for the four townships the village serves. She suggested that the fire chiefs get together and come up with an acceptable fire contract that would work for all the neighboring areas.

An open seat on the board was also filled. Two applications were received for the open position on. One was from Jason Durham and one from Dorene Schick. Schick was appointed to the open position.
