Abby Dorr talks Christmas with The News

ALPENA -- Abby Dorr, a mother of two who lives in Alpena, said she loves the Christmas holiday and spending time with her family and friends during it.

On Monday, she took time to answer five questions about the holidays for The News.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MEMORY?

I love when we go to my parents' on Christmas Day, open presents, play cards and celebrate together.

WHAT FAMILY TRADITION DO YOU HOPE YOUR CHILDREN WILL PASS ON TO THEIR

CHILDREN?

We always drive around and look at all of the Christmas lights around town a few nights before Christmas. We go outside on Christmas Eve and spread reindeer food in the yard. I mix glitter, carrots, and oatmeal for them.

HOW IMPORTANT IS FAMILY DURING THE HOLIDAY?

Family is the most important thing during the holidays, but this year will be kind of hard, as we won't be able to see (them) as much as we normally do. I'll still have my kids, and we'll make the best of it.

WHAT DO YOU WANT THE HOLIDAYS TO MEAN TO YOUR CHILDREN WHEN THEY BECOME ADULTS?

That it's not all about what you receive, but about giving and helping those in need. They need to know there is more about Christmas than just presents, and there are many people who are less fortunate and need help.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE

CHRISTMAS GIFT?

It had to be when we got the original Nintendo that had the "Duck Hunt" game with it. My brother and I used to play that for hours and hours upon end.
