ALPENA — The Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade is canceled, the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce announced today, releasing the following statement:

“Due to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Epidemic Order issued yesterday, the Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade has been cancelled. We feel it will be in violation of the limitations put in place for outdoor gatherings. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause for those already getting floats together. We want everyone to stay safe and healthy this holiday season.”

Public health officials reported more than 100 newly infected Northeast Michiganders over the weekend, and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Sunday imposed new restrictions meant to curb a fast-moving resurgence of the virus.
