Filched goods found, arrest follows
Stolen items found in an Alpena woman’s home led to her arrest almost nine months after an Alpena resident reported her home was burgled.
Michigan State Police troopers arrested Janae Marotta after a lengthy investigation into a Feb. 3 breaking-and-entering complaint on the city’s south side. A woman told police someone entered her home while she was away, taking several items from the home.
Following a tip from the homeowner, who suspected she knew who took the missing items, police interviewed several people and eventually gathered enough evidence to search Marotta’s home.
When several of the missing items were found there, the MSP 7th District Fugitive Team arrested Marotta on Oct. 28. She was arraigned in the 88th District Court on Thursday on one count home invasion second degree.
