ALPENA — A kindergarten class at Ella White Elementary School has been directed to self-isolate until Nov. 25 and will return to class on Nov. 30.

Alpena Public Schools officials said in a press release today that officials were informed by District Health Department No. 4 on Monday that someone connected to the school was infected with COVID-19.

The Health Department is investigating the situation and will notify parents of any close contacts who will need to self-isolate or take other measures.

APS officials urged parents and community members to monitor themselves and their children closely for symptoms of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
