Alpena man accused of sexually assaulting child

ALPENA — An Alpena man was arraigned on Tuesday on charges of sexually assaulting a child.

Michigan State Police arrested Nathan Benton, 36, after a minor told a family member on Nov. 8 that Benton assaulted the child in 2018. The family member confronted Benton, who agreed to discuss the allegations with police.

The News does not identify alleged victims of sexual assault.

After a police investigation, Benton was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person younger than 13, one count accosting a child for immoral purposes, and one count aggravated indecent exposure. He is scheduled to be back in court next week.
