Police nab three after car, foot chase in Alpena
ALPENA –Three Detroit men led police in a car chase down a busy Alpena road Monday evening, endangering pedestrians and other drivers after an attempt to fill a fake prescription at a local pharmacy.
According to police, at about 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of someone trying to pass a fraudulent prescription at LaFave Pharmacy on Chisholm Street. Deputies from the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office gave chase when the subject fled in a silver Cadillac, which drove erratically east on Chisholm.
The driver of the Cadillac ignored traffic signals, drove into oncoming traffic, and was involved in a crash at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Chisholm. Continuing on Chisholm after the crash, the Cadillac drove up on curbs, almost hitting pedestrians, police reported.
The vehicle finally stopped after hitting some trees at the corner of 7th Avenue and Chisholm, but the two men inside fled on foot and were chased by police.
Deputies, assisted by officers from the Alpena Police Department and Michigan State Police, found and arrested the men, along with a third subject who was near the Wendy’s restaurant on Chisholm.
All three are from the Detroit area and are lodged at the Alpena County Jail facing multiple charges.
