An Alpena man stole two cars on the same day, police say.

Ryan Johnston, 41, was arrested on Oct. 15 after he was identified by an Alpena Police Department investigation as the suspect in a pair of July vehicle thefts. According to police, Johnston stole one car in Alpena, drove to Lake Winyah Road west of the city, dumped the first vehicle, and stole a 2005 Buick LaCrosse from a woman’s garage.

The LaCrosse was found later that day at a downtown Alpena business.

A warrant was issued for Johnston’s arrest on Aug. 24, and he was arrested by the Alpena Police Department on Oct. 15, charged with motor vehicle theft for the Alpena vehicle and unlawful driving away for the theft of the LaCrosse.
