Local school board roundup: Pied Piper undergoing renovation

∫ Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District Superintendent Scott Reynolds recently said in his report to the Board of Education that the gas stove in Pied Piper School has been removed and a new warming oven has been ordered. Additionally, Reynolds said the gas line has been capped.

Pied Piper School is undergoing a renovation, with the Saginaw-based Wolgast Corp. completing the work. Reynolds said a walk through was scheduled with Wolgast, himself, and other AMA ESD officials to complete a punch list for the second phase of the project.

Additionally, the Board of Education approved an employment contract to Speech therapist Elizabeth Zinke. The board also amended Special Education Director Mary Zahn’s contract to include a $2,400 increase for the 2020-21 contract year, as Zahn was assigned additional duties and now oversees the intermediate school district’s speech therapy services.

∫ Atlanta Community Schools Board of Education recently approved the purchase of a new security camera system in the amount of $26,772 from All Campus Security. The board also approved of a $50,000 technology purchase.

Additionally, the board accepted the resignation of Restorative Justice Paraprofessional Kaitlin Corbin and then hired her as a long-term substitute for a third grade vacancy. The board then hired Neale Curwin as the Restorative Justice Paraprofessional.
