ALPENA — Alpena police and fire crews responded shortly after noon today to a two-vehicle, head-on crash at the intersection of Ripley Boulevard and Washington Avenue.
There were no serious injuries.
The driver of the truck involved in the wreck said a white van entered the right-of-way and, although he swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting it, he was unable to do so.
Police were directing traffic on the busy road during the lunch rush, while the truck was able to pull into the parking lot of the nearby Marathon gas station while the van came to rest on the side of the road near a utility pole.
