Drug dealers confronted by angry buyers, police say

A handgun, fake drugs, and angry confrontation after a drug deal gone bad resulted in the arrest of two Saginaw men visiting Alpena on Saturday.

John Gaddy, 22, and Duran Lowe, 17, came north to sell imitation methamphetamine to two Alpena women, police say. The women, realizing they’d paid $400 for a fake drug, later confronted the men in the parking lot of a local business. Stealing the women’s phone, the men fled the scene, but the women gave chase, bumping the men’s car from behind near Werth Road and U.S.-23.

During a second face-to-face argument, after both vehicles stopped, Gaddy pulled a gun on the women before the men drove off once again.

Officers from the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office stopped the men near Hubbard Lake Road, and Michigan State Police-Alpena Post troopers found the gun in a ditch nearby.

Both men were arrested and lodged at the Alpena County Jail.
