Another Alpena County resident dies after coronavirus infection

ALPENA — Another Alpena County resident who had tested positive for COVID-19 has died, District Health Department No. 4 said.

It is the first COVID-19-related death of an Alpena County resident since July 17.

The Health Department also said another Alpena County resident has been infected.

Since the virus hit Michigan in mid-March, 116 Alpena County residents have been infected, 14 have died, and 100 have recovered.

Since mid-March:

* 19 Presque Isle County residents have been infected, one has died, and 13 have recovered.

* seven Montmorency County residents have been infected, six have recovered

* 25 Alcona County residents have been infected, 20 have recovered, and one has died.

Statewide, 465 new cases and one new death were announced today, bringing the total number of Michiganders infected to 93,185, of whom 6,325 have died.
